Jay, who is Art’s son, joined the founding firm of Thompson Associates in May of 1991.  On January 1, 2007, he became an equity partner in the newly formed entity of Thompson-Hamel, LLC.  Jay is a Series 7 Registered Representative, and a licensed life and health insurance producer, providing clients with investment services and retirement planning.  Jay's professional accomplishments include the National Quality Award for 9 years.

Since joining the firm in 1991, Jay has successfully passed the Series 7 General Securities exam and the State of Maine’s Life and Health Producer exam.  Jay has also successfully completed a number of financial services courses at the American College and through State of Maine sanctioned education centers, as well as keeping abreast of current trends in the industry through numerous yearly sales and investment conferences sponsored by our Broker/Dealer, Ameritas Investment Corporation, and our corporate office affiliate, UNIFI Companies.  Prior to joining the organization, Jay was the Operations Manager of a construction equipment dealership in the Southern Maine area.  Jay is a 1985 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Mechanism. 

Jay currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Limestone United Methodist Church, he is the past Chairman of the Limestone Development Foundation, and has been a volunteer basketball coach for the Limestone Recreation Department.

Jay and Diane reside in Limestone and with their children Justin, Brandon and Danika.

Jay enjoys spending time with his family, biking, camping, cross country skiing, woodworking and driving his 1937 Chevy truck that he restored in high school.
